Malik joined NYBAP during the summer of 2005. Since returning home to New York City after eight years of being away, he saw the need for a networking organization that professionals of Bangladeshi heritage could relate to. Malik is currently NYBAP's Vice President and Events Committee Co-Chair (with Zeeshan Chowdhury).

Malik brings significant leadership experience from various professional organizations in the US and Japan to his roles at NYBAP. He notes that NYBAP is an organization made up of accomplished members with diverse talents and backgrounds. He stresses that the key to NYBAP's sucess is to build and maintain an organizational infrastructure that draws on ideas, initiatives, and energy of members.
